My colleague Jake raves about Smoque and a few weeks before Christmas, my team made an excursion to try it. We were already impressed with the idea of a $15 lunch special (Monday – Thursday) which features any burger or sandwich with your choice of any small side, garden salad or 3 buffalo wings.
For my lunch, I ordered the “Mammas” Buttermilk Fried Chicken Po Boy with remoulade sauce, lettuce and tomato with a side of fries. I loved the slightly charred, soft bun casing and remoulade sauce. The fries were not the particular style I prefer, however a decent sized portion was provided.
For her lunch, Deb ordered the Chilli Cheese Fries ($10.90), which are deemed a house specialty. Deb mentioned that the serving was quite large for her, so I offered to help. These chilli cheese fries were delicious.
For dessert, I couldn’t help but try the peanut butter and bacon ice cream. On my first attempt, I ended up getting Passionfruit by mistake. When we eventually got the peanut butter and bacon ice cream, we all decided that the passionfruit was the better of the two. The peanut butter and bacon ice cream was a little too salty.
