On a particularly warm Friday evening, it was decided that A and I would head out for dinner as neither of us could be bothered cooking. Leederville is quite close to us, so we headed there in hunt of something to eat. After walking around, it was quickly decided that we’d eat at Jus Burgers due to it being a little quieter in there than other establishments. Jus Burgers has been our go-to place for a while now and on this Friday night I was surprised to see that the line was quite short and it was very easy to find a table. I don’t think that this means that Jus Burgers’s popularity has declined, but is moreso due to the opening of their three other venues in Fremantle, Subiaco and Northbridge.
I think it is safe to say that A and I like burgers. I never really thought of it before writing this post, where I am once again discussing a burger joint. A and I have tried quite a few of the burgers on offer but on this occasion I ordered the Original Meat Burger ($11) with horseradish cream (+$1) and A ordered the Cheeseburger ($12) with blue cheese. We also ordered two servings of chips ($4 each).
My original meat burger with horseradish cream was quite nice. The turkish bread bun was toasted nicely and the salad was fresh. I love the meat Jus Burgers uses (Australian Amelia Park beef) as it tastes exceptionally flavoursome and fresh. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of horseradish flavour in the sauce however, as it was either mixed with the mayo which overtook the flavour or the horseradish cream never made it into my burger.
A’s cheeseburger was highly raved about by A. She liked the blue cheese flavour and said she’d order it again. It’s an unusual option for a burger but it definitely worked. Both burgers had fresh lettuce, tomatoes, red onion and relish, which was just the right amount of salad and filling.
Jus Burger has thick, freshly cut chips that are golden in colour and have a lot of crunch. The servings are huge and we would’ve been happy with just one serving between the two of us. There is an option to add more salt at the table, as Jus Burgers have sea salt in shakers on each table. A and I are the type who like our chips salty so we happily shook a lot of sea salt onto our chips.
Perth seems to have a few high-quality burger joints that make A and I very happy and Jus Burgers is definitely one of them. I like the concept of Jus Burgers and would definitely recommend it for quality burgers. I also recommend sitting on one of the tables outside on your visit if you happen to be there on a Friday night – it makes for an interesting viewing experience! Take a bottle of wine with you ($2 corkage per person) and enjoy a casual night out with quality burgers and tasty chips.
