I am a self-proclaimed foodie with a strong desire to cook well, eat well, and drink well. With a Middle Eastern background, I’ve grown up immersed in the cultural love of food and socialising. Having travelled around the Middle East, Europe and the Americas, I’ve enjoyed a range of traditional cuisines in their cultural settings.
With a BA in Arts (English Literature/Creative Writing), along with a few other post-grad side projects, I work full time at a University. During my uni years, I worked in a variety of cafes, restaurants and hotels and developed an understanding of food and wine service. I am a keen cook and will often be flicking through a recipe book or food magazine. If you are interested, you can find photos of food I cook on my Facebook page in the photo album, “Food I make”.
In March 2011, I started Perth Food Journal to capture my love of food and writing. In late June 2013, I transferred my PFJ blog content to Capital Food Journal, as I relocated to Canberra. In January 2015, I relocated back to Perth and I’m excited to see what the city has been up to while I was away.
This blog aims to share my foodie experiences of restaurants, wine and media events in Australia and overseas. I have a strong passion for showcasing local produce and supporting local businesses around Australia.
I often speak of my lovely girlfriend “A” in my posts. She is interested in food as much as I am and will often be looking up new restaurants or cooking something new in the kitchen. She is very knowledgable about wines and is a strong ‘behind-the-scenes’ contributor to this blog.
If you’d like to see a list of media events I’ve covered as well as featured articles and interviews, please see my media page.
