I love cake but don’t bake often – mainly because I’ll end up eating way too much of the cake and then feel really guilty about it. However, a perfect alternative is to head to an event that revolves around cake, where you can share your own creation but also have the added bonus of trying lots of other cakes. This excellent event exists in the form of Canberra Cake Club, which was initially inspired by the Secret Cake Club Perth.
I was lucky enough to snag a spot for the March cake up, as recently the events have been booking out quickly. At each cake up there is a theme for bakers to adher to, and in the month of March the theme was cocktails. As it was my first event, I decided that I would attend as a guest instead of a baker. I couldn’t believe that I was able to attend (and eat lots of cake!) without contributing – I love this idea!
The March event was held within the Mint Garden Bar at Sage Restaurant in Braddon. It was my first time at the venue and I loved it – especially the variety of herb pots around the garden area.
The cakes on the day were very creative and the ones I tried were excellent. I definitely couldn’t find any fault with them!
