From the 1st til the 31st of March, the Eat Drink Perth Festival will celebrate the city’s culinary culture and offer a variety of free and ticketed events for you to enjoy. There will be food tours, progressive dinners, pop-up bars, markets, high tea, degustations, wine and cheese tastings, cooking classes and events for the whole family.
I’ve been asked to be one of the guest bloggers for the festival, along with The Food Pornographer, Juji Chews, Foodie Cravings and Breakfast Confidential. I was also lucky enough to see the schedule well in advance and there are a few that have stood out, including:
Yum Cha in the Park
Saturday 23 March, 11am – 2pm, Free entry
Outdoor yum cha stalls will be set up in Northbridge Piazza and will serve tasty morsels of food set against the backdrop of live music, lion dancing and performances – perfect for a family day out!
Perth Home Grown
Sunday 3, 10, 17 and 24 March
Forrest Place, 10am – 3pm, Free entry
I am a huge fan of local produce and I’m excited about these Sunday markets, which will offer the best local products and ingredients that will inspire you to get creative in the kitchen. Buy farm-fresh fruit, vegetables, free range eggs, honey and nuts or choose from a variety of home-baked goods including breads, cakes, cookies, oils, organic teas, chutneys and pickles. There will also be a selection of hot brunch options on to entice you even more so!
Twilight Hawkers Market
Friday 1, 8, 15, and 22 March

If you haven’t been to the Twilight Hawkers Market, do yourself a favour and check it out. The Twilight Hawkers Market offers mouth-watering cuisine from around the globe including Angolan gluten free food, Korean rice plates, paella, empanadas, Japanese pancakes and churros!
The Perth International Student Festival

Perth Cultural Centre
I’m excited to see an event that is specifically targeted for international students in Perth. The Perth Cultural Centre precinct will tempt you with an array of aromas from a wide range of international food vendors as part of the Global FEASTival Food Market. There will also be a variety of local talent playing at the nearby James Street ampitheature.

Perth City’s Best Coffee Competition
Eat Drink Perth is looking for the most talented baristas in Perth, with the aim of pitting barista against barista to seek out the best cup in town. Seeing as though there are so many in Perth who love coffee, Eat Drink Perth is giving the judging powers to you! Cast your vote online by visiting Show Me Perth for a chance to win six months worth of coffee from your favourite city café. Voting opens at showmeperth.com.au on March 1 and closes on March 27.
Perth City’s Greatest Dish Photo Wall

Are you one of those people who always snap a picture of your dish before you start eating? In the month of March, Eat Drink Perth is featuring photos of meals that look too good to eat. Before digging into a delicious looking dish, take a photo and share it via the Show Me Perth Instagram or Facebook page, along with the name of the restaurant and the date it was taken. Show Me Perth will then selecting one image every day in March which will feature on the giant photo wall in Forrest Place.
